Ride to The Clouds

Let's Start From The Beginning -

On Monday morning, despite the forecast painting a picture of mostly cloudy skies, I decided to go on a ride. I left my home in Los Angeles at 8:30 AM, and set my course for Malibu. Although it was going to take me approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to my destination, I had the entire day ahead of me.

As I reached the 40-mile mark, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, or better said, I couldn’t see anything. Thick fog covered me and reduced my visibility to a mere 100 feet. Did I consider turning back? Absolutely not. I switched on my fog lights and kept riding. My goal was to reach Yerba Buena Road, but I kept missing my turns. Despite the growing fog on my dark visor, the dampness of my gear, and the chill creeping into my bones, I found myself mesmerized by the beauty surrounding me. Have you ever encountered such a surreal moment?

Mapping The Route

I have to confess, I decided not to track the route until I left Los Angeles, otherwise I probably would have lost you at "Take the 134 towards Ventura" hehe. IF you start in Agoura Hills, the ride will be 23 miles total and it will take about an hour to complete. If you start your ride in Los Angeles, like I did, the ride will be approximately 60 miles. Here's a screen-shot of the route I mapped for you:

I also can't believe I'm saying this, but do NOT take Mulholland Hwy! It's an option to exit the canyon, but you will miss all the great views and the fun ride. Instead, take Yerba Buena Road down to PCH or Cotharin Rd and Pacific View Rd towards Deer Creek Rd and brace yourself... it's going to get twisty! 

The lunch spot I mentioned is the infamous Neptune's Net. If you are coming down Yerba Buena Road like I recommended, take a left on PCH and the restaurant will be on your immediate right. Stop by, grab lunch, and enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean over some fish and chips (that's what I did last time I was there hehe). Now, congratulations! You did it, this is the end of the route I mapped for you. 

Where Did You Take These Shots?

Now, as promised, here's a Google Maps shot and a Street View of the exact spot where my alien looking photo was taken. From Sandstone Peak Trailhead Parking, take a left and then pullover to the big shoulder on the right side. I took this shot at approximately 11:30 AM. I used this Tripod, this Fujifilm X-T200, and a little help from Photoshop and Lightroom. I am happy to give you the exact location of the other photos upon request, just let me know.
